The Z scale for model trains is tiny. They are so small that you could fit a very good layout onto a table top. The problem with Z guage is that they are so small they are difficult to work with and any trackside features you have will be very small and fragile if they are in proportion but if you are very short of space you could fit a nice little layout on a bookshelf and that is a huge advantage for some people.
